He would also squint his eyes and give slight smiles at times when he was happy and proud of what he just said. The next visual aspect I will discuss is the President's poise and posture. He was at a podium so he stood strong and sturdy with very little movement. He never walked or paced or even swayed slightly, he stood tall and appeared confident. His stance was impressive, making him appear like a strong confident leader.
Speech Composition.
The composition of the speech was also good. He had many topics to discuss and was the topics were interesting to the American public. His introduction definitely got my attention because he addressed every audience member. When you feel specifically addressed it seems you pay more attention. He also gave a thesis statement of the topics he was going to discuss; this gave us a brief overview of where he was going with the speech. He also made us aware that his specific purpose was to address all the problems the United States is encountering especially warfare. The topics he listed and then spoke of included; the economy, tax cuts, health care, the environment, the homeless, AIDS, and Terrorism. He spoke on all of these topics with knowledge and logic and showed compassion when necessary. One topic I wasn't completely convinced of when he spoke on the environmental policy. I felt that you could see his uncertainty. He isn't an expert on the subject and you can tell how little he really knew. His other points were stated more confidently and he seemed knowledgeable of all the other points. His transitions were very fluent from point to point and it was clear when he started with his next topic. His conclusion didn't tie in the rest of the speech but by doing so he would have taken away from the speech. By ending with a summary of his speech he would have taken away from the emphasis he put on the topic of terrorism. Instead, he ended with a sense of determination to enhance the faith in the United States and to rid the world of attacks of terror.
