It's unfortunate that as a society we fail to see the importance of art in education. A cut in government funding would mean that fewer children would be touched by the arts, leaving it only for the "Elitist" to experience them. .
Art is an essential part of the human experience and should occupy a central role in human life. It represents a form of thinking which should be present in our schools. It's through the arts that a child can have an understanding and tolerance of other peoples and cultures. It not only allows them to appreciate other cultures, but they can express common aspirations through the universal language of art from the past and present civilizations.

Art is means of listening to dreams and expressing imagination and feelings. The art tells us who we are, and what is going on in the world, and helps us to understand each other. It's a path to personal growth where a child is encouraged to express his/her own views on things and allow them to open up to new unexplored ideas.
Although the public in general view art as an activity with little or no importance to a child's education, art seems to be more practical since you"ll always use what you learn from it. Art education develops intellectual skills and creates opportunities to explore creative self-expression. It allows them to think critically, independently and to make informed judgements.
