We, Filipinos, grew up watching these two stations compete with one another. These are the factors that up to this moment affect and influence our beings, including our beliefs and culture. It could be said that these two stations gain popularity because of the dramas it had been showing. The question is why are we so hooked up with these stations exclusively? We, Filipinos are captivated with these two top-rating stations because we enjoy the strategic comments or commercials, dramas, or battle, which comes along with it. But come to think of it, this said competition also helps the two stations to earn their big amounts of profit. Because they create issues for people to talk or debate about. They uncover interesting stories that either shocks the audience or even make moralists outraged. .
It could be said that media plays a vital role in shaping a nations awareness and intellectual capacity. Like literature, it voices its own opinions and informs viewers. But with this, balancing the situation or information should be considered. Sadly, in our country, because of the strong impact and integrity or shall I say commercialization that these stations do, especially in their news shows, makes most Filipinos to just believe or take in what are said and informed without analyzing the whole situation. With these, our values are affected and risked because without knowing it, these values are altered. I"d like to make an example. Like the scandal between Kris and Joey that has been so publicized. It is noted that this started in a news program, specifically TV Patrol. Yes I know that these kind of "tsismis" entertains us but isn't it proper to be viewed in a news program that is expected to cater shows that are relevant on the public's lives? Nevertheless, people even got so involved in the situation that it became a national interest. It is also shown in this issue how the values of Filipinos is really changing.
