Every year alcohol is responsible for half of all murders, accidental deaths, and suicides, one third of all drowning, boating, and aviation deaths, half of all crimes, and almost half of all fatal automobile accidents. Today, most young adults start drinking early in their high school years at social gatherings. Students think that if they don't drink like their fellow peers, they will not fit in. What they don't know is that their body is still growing and alcohol can lead to many complications early in life. This is why Wisconsin shouldn't lower the legal drinking age to eighteen. .
At eighteen, one can fight for their country, legally get married, and smoke cigarettes. Young adults will argue that at eighteen, they are mature enough o act on their own. But it is impossible to judge maturity. No evidence exists to indicate that kids will learn to drink responsibly simply because they are able to consume alcohol legally at a younger age. Yes, it's true, if somebody is mature enough to vote, then they should be old enough to drink. However, the people who agree with this statement also agree that the people that vote are smart enough to know whom he/she wants to vote for. One may vote at 18, drink at 21, rent a car at 25, and run for president at 35 these ages take into account the requirements, risks and benefits of each act. Some people also say that perhaps by settling the standard drinking age to eighteen, young adults would no longer see alcohol as the forbidden fruit it has become, but rather as an enjoyable substance that is meant to be consumed maturely. Nevertheless, lowering the drinking age will make alcohol more available to an even younger population and legal access to alcohol for eighteen year-olds will provide more opportunities for younger teens to obtain it illegally from older peers. .
Again, the practices and behaviors or eighteen year-old are particularly influential on fifteen to seventeen year-olds, and if eighteen year-olds get the okay to dink, they will be modeling drinking for younger teens.
