Have you ever been driving down the road and bam! Your tire blows out because you just hit a pothole in the road. Hopefully, your going slowly enough that you can maintain control of your car and pull off to the side of the road. But what if you"re not? What if you are going to fast and lose all control of your car, resulting in hitting a tree, guardrail, or even worse another car.
Potholes in Pennsylvania's roadways are a very common thing; they are everywhere especially after the winter season. Why aren't other state's roads as full of potholes as it seems Pennsylvania's roads are? If you ever drive out of state you immediately notice a nicer smoother ride once you have crossed the state line. .
Hitting potholes doesn't always result in tire blowouts, and sometimes they don't damage your car in any way. You hit them and continue on driving. Of course sometimes you are less fortunate though and the damage may not even be evident immediately after the impact. Potholes can leave unseen damage to your car. They can wear away a car's suspension, resulting in poor handling and costly repairs. Potholes can also cause a car to be knocked out of alignment. Even though an "out-of-alignment" car isn't very noticeable to the driver it can cause dangerous and unstable conditions at higher speeds and can lead to premature tire tread wear, and we all know how expensive tires can be to replace. A high-impact hit, when driving through a pothole has also been known to snap one or more of the belts in tires. This could lead to a blow out the next time a pothole is hit. Poor road conditions have also been known to lead to heavy traffic jams because drivers are forced to drive slower than normal and have to be more alert to try and maneuver around road hazards. Occasionally, tragic vehicular accidents have occurred for those who are in a hurry and who don't slow down with the rest of the crowd.
