My family and I recently went on a vacation to the mountains near our home. We had been there several times before because the area is so beautiful. I addition to mountains, there are a beautiful river, many waterfalls, and lots of hiking trals to enjoy. Each time we drove over the river bridge, we say people down below, floating on colorful inner tubes in the water. It looked like fun to the rest of my family, but since I'm not a very good swimmer, I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. However, on this last trip, I decided to give "tubing" a try.
.
We went to a recreation center on the river that rents tubes and provides transportation to a spot up the river where tubers can put in. Then, the tubers float back to the recreation center and get out. The whole trip was supposed to take about an hour. The day was sunny and hot, so I figured the water would feel good. We picked out our tubes, got our life vests, and hopped on the bus. Soon, we were at the starting spot.
I eased my tube into the water and tried to get in. It took a few minutes, but then, slowly and gently, the river's current pulled me along. I began to relax nd look around me. The trees along the riverbank grew far out over the river, and the sunlight streaming through them was beautiful. There were ferns, flowers, and all kinds of plants along the banks, and some ducks even joined us as we floated lazily along. Occasionally, the river flowed over large rocks, and our tubes would rush over these "rapids," which provided a little extra excitement. I'm glad I decided to try tubing. It was fun and relaxing.
