The unintentional beast

Guarding this eerie sanctuary was a worn down gate. It was made from rough splintered wood that was the shade of pond green from all the mildew and weeds growing through the cracks and up the sides. The splintered door to the gate looked as if no one had crossed it in years. The tarnished metal hinges holding the door together squealed as the door swung from side to side as a gust of wind came. The wind also shook the rough edged post standing in front of the gate. The post clashed with the rest of the dark, washed out property. It had been freshly painted white, along with its sign that boasted a " Beware of the dog" message. Before even imagining what kind of dog could belong to these owners who were untamed themselves, a stout muscular dog appeared from behind the gate. It had a thick metal collar around his neck, attached to a rusty, aged chain. The assumption that the dog had been tied up for years was made. Its every move showed the signs of despair and attention that it craved from anyone. It was obvious when it began to trot in such a calm, lazy way that you would think it was aged and weak. But this wasn't the case. The dog was much of a middle aged mut whose coat was a faded black with bald patches on its sides. Its fur grew unruly and thick around its ears and neck. It would occasionally lie down on the gravel ,lining the dusty path, and roll and squirm like a mad beast whining with pain. The poor animal was obviously in extreme discomfort from the fleas sucking his blood dry. Anger and rage were in its black round eyes when it began to wheeze and bark with excitement after seeing a black crow fly past him. The saliva and foam dripping from his tongue was uncontrollable. The stench attracting buzzing flies to his face and body were from dried saliva on his thick whiskers and hair. Flies covered its whole living perimeter. They nearly covered his cracked, metal food bowel. A thin mixture of water and blood seeped through the crack in the bowel.
