Life is a never-ending learning experience. One of the most important lessons we can ever learn from comes from within. As we go through life, it is essential that we learn who we are, and have the ability to recognize and grow from our own personal strengths ans weaknesses. Knowing what we are good at and how we use it.
I know that I am good at working with children, not just my own, but children in general. Being a parent of two disabled children, allows me to have patience with most all children. Although, the down side to having patience, is having a soft heart, which can sometimes be a problem. You can give me children all day long, but do not give me a man and expect me to have patience with him. The men I have met have known just what buttons to mash to keep me under their control, so I have learned to completely stay away from them until I finish my degree. Then I will decide whom and what buttons will be pushed on me. .
Being a parent has also taught me that I am reliable. One has to be reliable when it comes to children, like waking them up in the mornings, putting them to bed at night, and making sure they do well in school. Of course, being reliable has its downfalls too. Like being in the middle of something for school and being called to do something. But I guess that is just a fact of life, always struggles in the everyday things.
Personal strengths seem to out weigh personal weaknesses in most people. If a person can push himself or herself into learning their strengths, they will see that they have more strentghs than weaknesses. But in order to use those strengths, one must learn what they are and what they can benefit from them. One must learn how to use them in their everyday lives, not just when they think it is necessary.
