             For over a century now abortion has been a very controversial topic. The first time this topic became a legal issue was in the 1960's when pro-choice advocates pushed for the legalization of abortion. Abortion is not only physically and mentally damaging but is morally wrong as well. The legalization of abortion should never have been an option and should be outlawed today.
             What exactly is an abortion you may be asking? An abortion is the termination of pregnancy that can either be spontaneous or induced. Spontaneous abortions are often called miscarriages. Abortions induced artificially end the pregnancy and, depending on how far the pregnancy has advanced, determines the method used (). Now many would say a woman has a choice of whether or not to keep the baby and not giving her that choice violates hers rights and privacy. What about the rights of the child? The killing of the unborn child violates the Fourteenth Amendment, which says that no state shall deprive any person of life. What exactly is life? Webster's defines life as a period of existence (Kidney 151). When exactly does a baby come into existence and become human? A baby is human from the moment of conception. When the one cell it is made of has 46 chromosomes of the human species, it is unique from that moment. Ten days after conception the baby has planted him/herself in the wall of the uterus and stops your menstrual flow. Eighteen days after conception your baby's heart is already beating. Forty days after conception doctors have recorded brain waves. If you touch a little baby's nose at that point it will draw back its head, so there is definitely some sensation at that time.
