Beowulfs death

Fowling, the slave who stole the cup; Beowulf, and his eleven men approach the cave of the death-defying dragon. Beowulf, a brave fighter all through out his life, is ready to face the dragon. He gives a short farewell speech to his men and bravely shouts into the cave for the monster to hear him. The giant green monster with fiery eyes and a long scaly tail returns with a breath of smoke and fire. The battle begins, and Beowulf fights back while his cowardly men run away. Swinging his sword and shield with all of his might he puts up a tough battle. Only one member remains from his original army of eleven men, Wiglaf who sticks with his leader who remember the gifts and prizes that were given to him from Beowulf and feels as though he should repay him in some way. As the dragon leaps towards the two men, Wiglaf ducks and hides behind Beowulf, with three striking swings of the sword Beowulf manages to slay the dragon but not before the dragon has biten him and infused a deadly poison into his brave hearted soul. Both Beowulf and the dragon fall to their knees and collapse. The dragon dies with one last fire full breath and Beowulf lies on the ground searching for his breath. With Wiglaf by his side Beowulf expresses how he was joyful for living the good life he has as a good man. Before his final breaths he orders Wiglaf to fetch the lost treasure so he can see it be for he passes. Wiglaf brings the shining jewels and gems to his side for his viewing. Beowulf can not believe his eyes. These treasures Beowulf died to earn would be buried with him. At his death he wish is to be buried on land to serve as a guide to his sailors. At this time with his last breath Beowulf announces Wiglaf as his heir for they both were Waegmundings. .
Despite Beowulf's greed that motivated him to fight for the treasure, it still makes him greater than the dragon which moved "at sunset" and in darkness, as all monsters did.
