Swedish money


In 1814 almost one hundred years later Sweden started a conflict with Norway. Sweden controlled their country and in 1905 a treaty was signed to peacefully end the occupation. That was the last of Sweden's military campaign.
             Economic growth didn't really do much from about eighteen hundred fifty and nineteen hundred. At this time the land was being used for farming but still there wasn't enough food for the growing population. In result most of the people moved to America and the economy took a slight dive. It would have been worse but there were too many people in the country and the move of those emigrants seemed natural. Almost 450,000 moved out of the country at this time. Things started to look better in eighteen sixty when Sweden started manufacturing more instead of everyone trying to farm the natural woodlands and forest area.
             Sweden started mining, manufacturing goods and foresting. Foresting was a great increase in income because it didn't take a lot of skill to cut a tree down and there was plentiful supply of forests. During this time a Swedish inventor created dynamite and Sweden started building railroads. This increased trade to more secluded parts of the country and more areas to harvest resources from the land. By nineteen hundred Sweden became known as and important industrial nation due its ability to mine so much iron and steel. Sweden was starting to get back on its heels.

             Sweden a long with the rest of the world experienced the first of two world wars to shock the economies and governments of many countries. Sweden stayed as neutral as possible. This was the first time that Sweden really remained a neutral country during a war so close to its boundaries. They didn't help out either side with money or sending supplies and troops. They did commit one act that some countries called participation, the let the German army march through their country and did nothing to stop them.
