The Graduate

Benjamin pesters Elaine to marry him even though she agreed to marry another man. This culminates when Benjamin bursts into Elaine's wedding and puts a halt to it and runs off with her.
             Benjamin Braddock is a very intriguing character who lacks direction and basic judgment skills until he is inspired by Elaine Robinson. In the beginning of the movie Benjamin lacks direction he has just completed college with numerous accolades but doesn't know what he wants to do with his life or why he has wasted 4 years of his life at school. The options are there for Benjamin all he has to do is decide and take some initiative with his life which he seem unable to do. Benjamin is somewhat lost in his life because he now has the freedom to make his own decisions but he doesn't know what he wants to do because his parents have always made decisions for him in the past. Ben lacks basic judgment skills because no matter how bored, or infatuated you are you should know that it is not right to have an affair with your father's business partners wife, it's just wrong and it shows a lack of good judgment. Once Benjamin becomes involved with Elaine he gains inspiration he knows what he wants to do which is marry Elaine, he also acknowledges that his affair Mrs. Robinson was wrong.
             Mrs. Robinson is a sneaking character with no morals who will do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals. Mrs. Robison is sneaky the way she convinces his Ben to drive her home and stay at her house, by using Ben's inhibitions against him. Mrs. Robinson has no morals because no decent woman would seduce her husband's business partners son and have an affair with him given the age difference and the morality of it. Mrs. Robinson is a character who will do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals especially to benefit her daughter, for example when she marries Mr. Robinson because she is pregnant with Elaine so that Elaine will have a father and a stable life.
