Finally, they required a 2/3 majority vote of the states to pass laws. The limitations put upon the system of government needed to be lifted for the country to continue to run smoothly and be able to improve and build upon itself. The Constitution was the resolution to this issue and was adopted by the Conventions of States on September 17, 1787 and then ratified on Jun 21, 1788. The Constitution is still in use even to this day. The Articles of Confederation was by no means a bad thing since it laid the foundation for what would come. The Articles of Confederation did not provide enough control and was too weak to govern this nation still in a stage of great development and change. It was too loosely constructed and did not put forth a tight and strong, straight forward self-governing law. The regulations of this document were mostly geared for the time in which they were written and not much else.
The Articles of Confederation stated that each state has its own áÈsovereignty, freedom, and independence.áÉ It was an initial attempt for unity that would become permanent among the American colonists, who would later become American citizens. This was created during a congressional committee meeting on July 12, 1776. It was then adopted on November 15, 1777, whereupon an association was then created. It was created to help the people govern themselves and to provide the support to keep things under control without outside help. It also grant ability to require states to give money to a national government and to allow them each one vote in congress. It helped to maintain the relationship with the natives and to control affairs outside the country. It also helped to settle fights among states.
The Constitution was needed to take the place of the Articles of Confederation to keep up with the changing needs of this rapidly developing country. It was logical at the time for laws to be written the way they were being written, since the British forces had been limiting the power of the American colonist.
