I awoke to my mother poking at me; her words seemed miles away. Nothing short of an atomic explosion was going to wake me up. Even so, I could hear her saying that I needed to get up and go to my grandmother's house. This seemed unusual at ten o' clock in the morning. Usually I would be sleeping until at least noon. Of course, I immediately asked why I was going to my grandmother's house at such an early hour. When my mom told me that my grandma wanted to look at cars with me, I leapt out of bed. .
My eighteenth birthday was in two days. As soon as my mom said the words "grandma"" and "new car"" in the same sentence, I knew that I was going to have a great birthday. I rushed through my morning shower and started up my 1993 Geo Prizm as soon as possible. I was way too excited to take my time. I could only imagine the feeling of pride of owning a brand new car. As the car warmed up, I wondered where my grandma and I were going to look at cars. Then I remembered that my grandfather used to work for General Motors before he retired. This meant that we were going to get a huge discount on a brand new car. .
The thought of driving a car with less than 100,000 miles on it seemed very interesting to me to say the least. After a couple of minutes of letting the engine warm up, I put the car into first gear and laid rubber all the way to grandmother's house. Upon arrival, I made great haste in running up her very long driveway and through her open front door. I knew that it would be polite to at least say hello, but I was ready to look at cars, so I made her get ready to go. As soon as she was ready, I asked where she wanted to go. She said that we were going to a Chevrolet dealership, which was fine by me.
On our way to the car dealer, grandma said that she had been looking at the 2003 Cavaliers and she was trying to tell me how nice they were. I was against the idea of getting a Cavalier because of their notorious reputation of being underpowered.
