In The Lake Of Woods

I know losing is hard but why but it's apart of life. John is also a loving husband who would do anything for his wife. Like many he was very insecure but they way he deals with it is insane. .
He stalks his wife everywhere she goes; even before they were married and they were dating he would follow her around. His reason behind this was to make sure that she wouldn't cheat on him. This is what led me to believe that he was insane. As I read farther into the story I saw how he was a hypocrite. He would complain how his father was always drinking but then he would be dinking hard liquor like it was water. .
Another problem of his was he kept every thing inside which turn him dark on the inside the longer he kept holding in. With this he had a lot of guilt he carried around for over fifteen years. This guilt was a result from him killing in the Vietnam War. He really never worked through his issues of him being a killer. "I raised him up to be a good and I did everything I could. Once you kill they say it gets easier. He learned to kill but never how to deal with the killings.
"They come along and took him to the service. He fought for his country and looks what they done to him. Made a murderer out of him, to start with." That is what I think happened to John. He tried so hard to act like it didn't happen. He would never talk about what went on over their not to even his wife. He tried so hard that he would forget sometimes himself of the events. .
He strives for love so when he found Kathy he didn't want to let her go. Him striving for love comes for the love he didn't receive from his dad. His dad would put him down for being a little fat; this would hurt his self-esteem. He loved his father so much like most do that he blamed Jesus for his father passing instead of him. He keeps his father alive from memories and also he would hold conversations with him through a mirror. He was always trying to hide the truth from his love ones.
