Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to become a veterinarian. Let's face it, I love animals more than I love people. I have always had this bond with animals that I've never been able to form with humans. Veterinarians diagnose and control animal diseases, treat sick and injured animals, prevent the transmission of animal diseases to people, and advise owners on proper care of pets and livestock. They ensure a safe food supply by maintaining the health of food animals. Veterinarians are also involved in wildlife preservation and conservation and public health of the human population. There are about 55,000 veterinarians and of that only 15,000 .

Veterinarians in private clinical practice gain satisfaction from helping owners keep their animals well and from treating sick and injured animals. Dr. Cloninger owns this animal hospital with her husband Dr. Moore. She taught me that there are many advantages and disadvantages to becoming a veterinarian such as, the reward of personal satisfaction in knowing that she is improving the quality of life for animals and people. Many people remark that veterinary science is all about dealing with animals. Although our contact with animals cannot be disputed, this comment overlooks what is one of the fundamentals of veterinary practice. the owner. The best part of veterinary practice is developing a professional and friendly, trusting relationship with clients. For many clients, their pet is like a child or exceptionally close companion and it is very fulfilling to be able to offer help to these people when they need it.
