Later in the 1920's Disney and Iwerks made another cartoon company called Laugh-O-Gram. Although it went bankrupt, this where the cartoon, Alice in Cartoon land was made. Later in Los Angeles, California, Disney was offered $1,500 for his Alice cartoons. He then got Ube and his brother Roy to help him draw these cartoons (Harmon 2). After that Disney and his partners created the first cartoon to have sound. This cartoon was called Steamboat Willie, which made Disney become very well known and successful (Katherine M. 1).
Walt Disney attending art school, getting jobs as cartoonists, and setting up studios were all important keys that led him to achieve the American dream of success. This is because work is involved in order to achieve American dream of success. It doesn't just one day happen. There is also much determination involved too in order to make dreams come true. Despite all of Disney's bankruptcies in his studios such as his cartoon company Laugh-O-Gram, he still found a way to start new studios and work his way back to the top. Walt showed all of these qualities needed to achieve the American dream of success throughout his younger years in life. .
After Disney created Steamboat Willie, his first major cartoon to have sound, he needed to move on. In order for Disney to become more successful he would have to create more cartoons. Disney would try to accomplish becoming more successful by making an animated film called The Three Little Pigs (Harmon 2).
The Three Little Pigs had a song in it called "Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf." This song became very popular among millions of people all around the world. Although The Three Little Pigs became a big success, stress took its tole on Disney. After all of the work he has done creating more films with the famous Mickey Mouse, Disney suffered a nervous break down. He became a heave drinker and was smoking three packs of cigarettes a day (Harmon 2,3).
