There was once a large water world where the god, Alces, dwelled. After many long ages of swimming, Alces grew tired of the water and made a giant island. .
He took the form of a great moose and roamed his land for days and weeks. Growing lonely, he created a many types of different animals, both land and water. Seeing that his world was now full of life, he named it Ather. .
Alces separated his island into quarters, giving each a certain habitat, which he called seasons. One quarter held temperatures that were very cold; there were nearly frozen plants, ice, and snow. He called this winter, and many creatures went to live here. He made another area hot and dry. Alces named this summer. The last two he made had a similar temperature, but one seemed young and fresh, and one seemed old and jaded. These he called spring and fall. .
For years Alces cared for his prosperous world, tending to any imperfections, until he grew old and weak. Deciding that he could no longer care to his planet, he made two more creatures to do the work for him. .
First, Alces made dwarves. These were short, male, two legged creatures with arms that were rude, ragged, and tough. Alces ordered these creatures to tend to the plants and land. .
Next, taking more time on his creation, Alces created another animal with two legs and two arms, naming them faeries. The faeries were female and perfect. They were kind, caring, and beautiful. The faeries were to care for the animals on Ather, which they did graciously. .
The faeries and dwarves did not get along in the least, for they were so different. .
One day, exactly 365 nights after the faeries and dwarves had been created, they got into such an argument that the mountain, called Volcano, spat a red fiery liquid at them. In turn, the area around Volcano was destroyed and all the animals fled or were killed. .
Fuming, the dwarves and faeries went to Alces. .
Alces, whom had listened to what had happened, was not pleased at all.
