"Wealthfare" is the term being used for corporate welfare assistance. Wealthy companies and individuals are receiving monetary handouts from the American government, which acquired the funds from the taxpayers" pockets. Corporate welfare comes in a variety of forms, such as tax reductions, government subsidies, discounts, and tax breaks. Being somewhat educated in the politics of business, I can understand the reasoning behind certain tax breaks for big businesses. It is true that sometimes we have to spend a little money to make a little money. I do not agree, however, with the overwhelmingly large amounts of funds going to these already wealthy businesses. If we were to take away aid, for only one year, we would save enough money to cover the national debt.
When I think about the debt America owes, I start to feel disgusted with the methods of our government. I do not believe that they are as ignorant as they appear to be. In a society whose government has not been able to overcome long-standing public issues, such as hunger and the homeless, the independently wealthy are becoming even more so. Big businesses are being becoming bigger and wealthier every day, and it is coming from the pockets of poor and middle-class families. At the same time, the poor and needy are becoming poorer. Corporate assistance is being paid for by the taxpayers, and the government would not offer this aid if it was going to actually cost them any significant amount of time or money. Nothing is easy or free, because we have been "programmed" to be competitive and greedy. People will go to many extremes just to make a few dollars. The dollar has the power to pay for immorality. It is possible to get away with almost anything if the right amount of cash is offered for the offense. This attitude has evolved into corporate, political, and personal issues, resulting in corruption. .
Since when does a government, which was made by the people, for the people, feel that it is justified in the decision to feed the rich and starve the poor? Corporate corruption has already been allowed to become the norm in America.
