Hitler's Mistakes

As Germany's fighting fronts spread throughout the continent, its shortage of manpower became increasingly important. Hitler had sent to death thousands and thousands of men who would have readily marched forward for the sake of Germany. It is also hard to believe that within the millions of Jews killed, there could not have been at least a million people that could have made a constructive contribution both intellectually and militarily to Germany. By eliminating an important part of Germany's population, Hitler had also removed something that could have an extremely positive influence of Germany during the war and afterwards. .
One of Hitler's greatest mistakes was his inability to exploit the technological aspects of his intellectual community. The entire system was full of chaos. Funds were short. Scientists owed allegiance to many different supervisors. Rivalry was intense among directors. Teams fought over research grants. Many innovative ideas were also not likely to gain support of the men in power. Most scientists bent their own thoughts into ones that their superiors would like. Ideas soon became very pressured and unoriginal compared to the vibrant thought existing in both Britain and America. This corruption and loss of advancements could have been prevented if one central government had been tolerant of scientists and their thought. .
Scientists also greatly suffered from Germany's system of communication. The main support system for scientists and their intellectual life depended on communicating and exchanging ideas with other scientists. This system was ended by Hitler's intolerance of intellectuals and the hostile reaction of the international scientific community to his regime. Many German scientists eventually moved to other countries (mainly Allied powers and especially America) to regain the communication that was so required for scientific advancement. Their loss to German science was tremendous.
