Rich Dad Poor Dad

Now, one can't suggest that the millions of OFWs lack financial literacy since most, if not all of them are aware of how valuable money is and how important it is to manage their daily expenses. They all can't also be afraid to take risks since they are risking going abroad to be able to make enough money to return home. The movie Anak is a good example to prove my point. Vilma Santos played the part of an OFW who returns to her homeland as a tired working mother with enough earnings saved to start her own little business. Unfortunately, she risked wasting all her money on an investment, which eventually forces her to go back to work abroad for her family. Her character followed one of rich dad's advices of not being afraid to take risks. So is it just because she was unlucky like most of our countrymen abroad? There are more reasons for this. .
A highly paid slave I still a slave. In the United States this might hold true, but for jobless Filipino graduates, a highly paying job is as rare as a glass of water in the desert. To further emphasize the importance of jobs to Filipinos, here is an excerpt from a column in the Philippine Daily Inquirer stating, "Last Wednesday new graduates of information technology schools who were jobless stormed the business center in Makati and staged a protest in front of the Enterprise II building where the Microsoft office is located. The protesters said they wanted to dramatize the plight of the jobless graduates and to appeal to the business community for employment." Abroad, people might have the option to turn down opportunities to work because of the inadequate benefits that comes with the salary. Here in the Philippines, as it can be clearly seen, it is a different matter. Thousands of Filipinos don't have the luxury to turn down jobs, especially high paying ones. Lack of jobs makes everyone is a potential competition for future jobs. So even if it means being a slave, Filipinos would gladly take on a line of work just so they can put food on the table.
