James

In the book of James there are many ideas that James tries to get Christians to do on a daily basis. I think the main reason he wrote this book is to get Christians to act upon their faith. I have chosen some things that have stood out to me and that I want to try to do on a daily basis.
James 1:23-24, "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror for he observes himself , goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was." This verse is talking about how if you are a Christian and you hear but you do not act upon it, then you really are not a Christian. I think that the catholic religion takes this verse completely out of proportion. They say that you can not get to heaven without works in reality I think that works are only a byproduct of your faith. If you do not have that byproduct, then you are not strong in your faith. It is not faith with works but faith and if you really have that faith then you will want to do good works for people and for God. .
James 3:2. "If anyone does not stumble in the word he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body." This verse is talking about how all of us in the faith will stumble sooner or later if not every day. The thought that someone or a priest can be infallible is inconceivable and he must not be human. All of us make mistakes and the thing we have to do is repent from those mistakes and try not to make them again because God is a loving and understanding God and He will forgive us for those mistakes as long as we repent.
James 3:8. "But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of ly poison.".
This verse is saying that the tongue can hurt people and it can easily be used for 's good. As Christian we have to watch what we say because people are watching us, and if they hear something that is not Christian, then they will say that we are hypocrites.
