Benjamin Franklin, born January 17, 1706,15th child, of 17 children in the Franklin family. Ben's father was a soap and candlemaker, who lived in Boston, Massachusetts with his second wife Abiah Folger. Although Bem learned to read at an early age, he only attended grammar school for two years. By the time he was 10 years old, Ben was working for his father. However, he did not enjoy the candlemaking area and two years later Franklin was apprenticed to his brother James who was a printer. He has had many accomplishments in his life he was a Printer, Inventor, and a government man.
For five years Franklin wanted to master the printers job. During this time he also went more into his education. After a fight with his brother in 1723 Ben left his home and headed for Philadelphia where he then got yet another job in the printing profession. Soon after returning to America he bought the news paper called Pennsylvania Gazette. He then soon made the first ever public library, and Academy of Philadelphia which later became a university. Franklin also built the stove which is also used to this day.
In the 1740's he started to research electricity, in 1748 he sold his paper and put all his effort and time into inventing. Soon after he became a member of the second colonial congress and help make the declaration of independence. He left to France to work on treaties on trade and became a minister of France.
In April 1790 Ben Franklin Passed away but just 2 months before he passed away he urged a petition to end slavery as his last act in his life. His accomplishments still live with us to this day and he will be someone who is remembered and not forgotten. Although he never became president if he ran he surely could have became president. .
