This experience has provided me the opportunity to learn to communicate with all ages in a way they will comprehend information. Teaching has required me to discover different problem solving techniques while trying to meet the needs of each individual student. Lastly, teaching piano has required me to better my own skills.
In English 12 at the beginning of the year students were asked to write an essay stating their goals for the 1998/1999 school year, and also for the future. These essays were sealed in envelopes and handed back to us as part of our final. I feel that my essay and response proves me to be an effective problem solver through my efforts to achieve each goal, and strategies taken to do so. Each goal was fulfilled.
In today's world of work technology has taken the front seat in the race to success. A healthy, skilled, knowledgeable person must demonstrate basic fundamentals of skills required for employment. I feel I am prepared for the world of work in a variety of technology situations as listed in "My Technology Skills.".
As I continue to research, interview, and collect information pertaining to the history of Grindstone Island, its places, people, and memories, I continually have to discriminate between facts and opinions presented. My employment experience is described in the college application essay "My Summer Job." Through detail I am able to relate many experiences where fact verses opinion are important.
A healthy, skilled, knowledgeable person must develop skills to express and evaluate personal artistic abilities and forms. In Spanish class I was asked to give a speech on my trip to Europe with The Sound of America Honor Band & Chorus. The presentation of this speech demonstrated my knowledge of the Spanish language while expressing an opportunity I had to sing and dance my way around Europe.
The National Youth Leadership Forum on Law in Washington D.C. provided me with the opportunity to develop relationships with students my age from all around the United States.
