Wind under Power

Although these windmills were used for a good cause, by providing a more sophisticated way of energy use and agriculture, however new technology brought a more easier and reliable way to extract energy from wind. However, power of wind still lives on, both from wind turbines, and wind pumps are used extensively in agriculture (http://www.windmillworld.com/windmills/history/britannica.htm, Aug.19,2001). .
As mentioned before throughout history different countries have made their own types of windmills. Historians say windmills date from the 12th century in England which generally speaking is known as animal or water powered mills. During the 14th and 15th century mills provided evidence that illustrated the way the mechanics worked, also its structure. Early illustrations provide that most windmills were made up of wooden, and stained glass (http://www.windmillworld.com/windmills/history/britannica.htm, Aug. 19, 2001). .
Other types of windmills also played an important role in society some of which were Post Mills and Tower Mills. Post mills were named because of their large upright post on the mills main structure. This mill rotated to the side of the wind. It maintained an upright post, with horizontal wings, and angled quarter bars. The body of the mill was mainly made for industrial purposes- it was shaped to provide a more reliable and easier way (http://www.windmillworld.com/windmills/history/britannica.htm, Aug.19, 2001).
An improvement of the early post mill to today's was that it had structural differences and improvements. It made the structure a lot more protected to weather, and more space to operate. .
Tower mills formed after the creation of Post mills. These mills had a far more sophisticated design made out of strong stone built towers. By using brick and stone for the body, tower mills can be built even larger and taller than other mills, they are also more durable, and more weatherproof.
