There's the e-commerce businessman, and there's the Internet junkie. There's high-speed communication, and there's stalking perverts. There's valuable research information, and there's explicit material. The Internet isn't just simply black or white. You can't argue that our world wide web is a source of corruption; neither can you say that it was the best invention ever. The Internet can make our lives a hundred times easier with a simple click of a mouse. Nevertheless, it also causes a hundred times more problems. It's kind of oranges, you know? You eat the right amount and it's good for you. You have too much of it and you get sick. .
Ever since the Internet appeared on the scene, web-related jobs have sprung up, online shopping was created, companies such as AOL and Yahoo came into being, and a whole new dimension of economy took shape. I"d say about 90% of businesses in the US probably have a company website. The Internet makes up a big chunk of our lives as well. Who has never gone online before? Better yet, who has never shopped online before? On the other hand, there"re the people who make a living off the Internet, and then there"re the people who literally LIVE off the Internet. You've seen the pictures. A computer nerd sitting in front his computer, his eyes locked on the screen, his hand clicking aimlessly at the mouse. The Internet junkie. Admit it, the Internet is easy to get hooked on. My number one example is the, obviously, the Counter-strike addict. Guys spend hours wasting away their lives doing whatever they do in that stupid game. Pathetic, huh? .
Also included in the bundle of Internet goodies is a new window of communication. Email addresses, screen names, ICQ numbers, message boards, you know what I"m talking about. Who would want to send a letter by snail mail, which costs postage money and at least a day's delay, when you can send an email instantly for free? Why call up your friends for homework question when you can easily instant message them on AIM? The Internet offers better and faster ways to communicate with others from all over the world at a cheap price.
