America is the land of the free and is one of the most if not the most free country in the world. Because of this people from many other countries come here to escape poverty, to find better jobs and liberty. As of right now America is populated with minorities from different racial and ethnic backgrounds such as Asians, Africans, Latinos, and Native Americans, all of which are known as minorities. Minorities have been entering into America since the mid to late 1800's until now. Native Americans were here already on conquest to practice their own religion. Africans were brought to America against their own will; they were forced here by Euro- Americans in order to be their slaves. Asian Americans and Latinos were not forced to come here. They came here looking for freedom and better jobs. Although those of Asian or Latino descent were not forced to enter into the United States, in some ways their experiences were parallel with those of African and Native American descent.
Coming from other countries each ethnicity had its own experiences as far as their stay in America. Overall what each one of these ethnic groups had in common they were all considered as workers. Asian workers came here and worked for an extremely small amount of money. They first came to work in the gold fields. Mexican Americans were also known to work for an extremely low amount of money. Native Americans worked in the cornfields as game hunters. They brought the necessities home to their family. Africans were enslaved and forced to work for no money at all. They did housework and they worked out in the fields and made their slave owners money while he sat back and watched. Although some of these experiences are the same in some aspect, I believe the gender roles of each of these ethnic groups are different in many ways but yet they are the same in many ways.
In the Latino household, the man is supposed to bring home the money and the women would stay home to take care of the household and the children.
