Hope

The inferences that I can make or I can see in the two texts of writing of the soldiers on both sides of the war would be that both sides were going through something that they had never before seen even in past wars. They were fighting with new weapons that would take the lives of many people, and some time not even soldiers but whole family's lives. One other inference that I can make is that the people were fighting for a cause and that "they" the soldiers felt as though they were something. The two inferences that most interested me were in first "A French man's Recollection's" and second "In Flanders Fields". In my first inference I noticed that death was common but what the people were going through was intensified and the war brought this to the forefront. " The grief was often more terrible because in most cases it as an only son. And there were three Cochon brothers." This suggests that a whole family can be torn apart not just because half of the family is dead but because when someone dies a piece of the person that is living some of there soul dies also, that is what happened to the mother. In "Flanders Fields" the poem suggests that the "field" a grave were the soldiers rest is saying that they were people too "We lived, Felt dawn, saw sunset glow" they once lived and are saying that they are something, the poem further suggests that maybe through memory or offspring that they some how might live on "We shall not sleep, through poppies grow in Flanders Filed because they help fight for what they believed in.
