The subject of child welfare is a broad topic, of great magnitude that is a lot of times understated and not given enough attention. To fathom all the types of problems would take devoting a lifetime, or more. There are many problems within, both a local and worldwide standpoint. A child's welfare includes his or her safety and health, which are many times neglected, as well as shelter, adequate food, clothes, etc. .
The subject is very touchy for many. Since they are, in fact, children, which cannot protect or stand for themselves, they are left in the care of those who are thoughtful. This may, or may not be a blessing on their part. Many people take advantage of them, while others look to truly help them succeed into a better life. This is such a broad subject that it affects almost anywhere that has a human population. The problem of children's welfare is not of recent origin. Misuse, abuse, and neglect of the world's young ones have occurred for many centuries. .
Imagine being born unto a woman who, sadly, dies during the birth. Then you are sent from shelter to shelter, foster homes/orphanages, being taken "under the wing-, so to speak of those who are supposed to "care- for you. Not only is the instability of seeing and being thrown into many environments a hassle upon the mind and body, but you must deal with the hardships of foster parents, headmasters, and such. The most popular examples which exemplify a life like this are Oliver Twist and Annie. Both are orphans who are thrown around, mistreated and show us how hard life is for those in their positions. Unlike the two fictional characters, there are real life examples out there, which do not have it, as well as these two. Yes, Annie and Oliver were both thrown around into the hands of wrongful people, but real life illustrations can be much graver.
I recall hearing on the news a few weeks ago about two foster parents who left their children unfed, leaving a nineteen year old, among others, starving and weighing a mere ninety-five pounds.
