An Overview of Surrogacy

Surrogacy has become a very popular form of having a family for those experiencing infertility. A woman is contracted to carry a child for an infertile couple, then surrender all parental rights to that child. In turn she is compensated for her time, pain and suffering . In most relationships between the people involved they form relationships, they are there to support each other and make sure that the one common goal is achieved. The goal to bring a healthy baby to waiting parents. The final step in the process is the acknowledgement of paternity. Through surrogacy, a couple wanting a child do not have to wait for years for an adoptable baby, that usually happens in this day and time. The couple is able to achieve their dream of having a child and that child being their biological child.
Some consider surrogacy the selling of babies, I will let you make that decision for yourself. Everyone has opinions and that's what makes this world of ours exciting. The surrogate goes through months of prodding, poking, being stuck, and being examined by thousands of eyes that you have no personal relationship with but are seeing your most personal areas. They are not only being looked under a microscope health wise but also mentally, to make sure that you are able to help an infertile couple make their dream a reality. Surrogacy is highly controversial by it's very nature. But it still attracts many infertile couples by giving them their chance of having their own biological child. A big part of their dream, their dream that is still within reach.
There is evidence of surrogacy as far back as the Old Testament. The Bible talks of two occurrences in "Genesis ", and implies that surrogates were accepted. Although it is quite old, surrogacy is, no doubt, the most contradictory of reproductive technologies. But this technology is growing at a rapid pace, many parts of this technology changes by the day and they are improving the chances for these couples each time.
