The Brunswick Zone is a bowling center located in a suburb north of Chicago. This bowling center is part of the Brunswick Company, which has contributed directly to the global growth of bowling by opening the first bowling center in Moscow in 1976. Brunswick nowadays has bowling centers in more than 100 countries all around the world. The Brunswick Zone in Deerfield has 31 bowling-lanes available 7 days a week, from the early afternoon until late at night. The costs per lane per hour are $35.00 and $3.95 for shoe rental. .
Before I chose to pick the Brunswick Zone in Deerfield as the place to write about in this essay, I first visited a couple more bowling centers in the neighborhood before making the choice at which bowling center I would honor with a second visit. I chose this bowling center because to me it seemed to have better facilities and a much nicer atmosphere than the other two bowling centers. The first time I went to this bowling center was just to get a first impression. The second time I wanted to be part of it to experience the ambiance myself. I tried to do this by taking some friends with me and play the game.
When we arrived at the bowling center, which was located behind a shopping mall and very difficult to find, we were impressed by the green neon-lights highlighting the name of the bowling center. We parked our cars on the parking lot in front of the building and walked into the bowling center. The first thing we noticed when we entered the building was the use of light-effects on and around the bowling lanes. Because I made the reservation I walked up to the counter, which was located at my right hand, and told the guy behind it that I had a reservation for 10.30pm for one lane under my name. I paid for the lane- and shoe rental and was told to give him one shoe of every friend I brought, including my own shoe. When we did that we got four pairs of bowling-shoes in return to use during our playing time.
