Another influence was the lack of education and participation of government in my family. This may seem strange to some, but for me it played a great deal. After learning of the things that were going on in the world, I wanted to make myself and my family more aware of politics and what they can do to become involved. The lack of politics pushed me to be more aware, maybe what was wrong with our family, that no one really cared. Of course they all stood around complaining about the taxes and knocking this guy or that guy, but I can honestly say that they didn't know a thing about the stuff they were talking about. So the lack of interest in politics in my family was definitely a push for me to become more involved in politics and definitely influenced my political socializations.
Looking at someone else such as the current president George Bush you can see where some of his political socializations come from. President Bush has had many influences in his lifetime. President Bush comes from a family that has a tradition of public service, from his father being the forty-first president to his grandfather Prescott being a senator for the state of Connecticut. George most likely was heavily involved in politics before he had a chance to understand them. The President could have had many other influences as well. He was very well educated and has degrees from Yale as well as Harvard. Serving in the Texas National Guard may have also influenced the president. He has owned oil business's and also part of a major league baseball team. These are just a few things that President Bush had to his advantage in developing his own political socialization.
There are contrasts between the two of us, but are views are not much different? President Bush was most likely more compelled to be involved in government, due to his family's presence in public service already. I on the other hand, had no family influences and was very unaware of what politics and government even were until I was twelve.
