Traditions have played an important role in my life. They have helped mold me into the person I am today, and the person I will become in the future. Everything from what we eat on certain days, to where we go on certain holidays; everything is already planned out. Any change, no matter how small, is almost catastrophic. How would we possibly be able to celebrate without everything being a certain way?.
Christmas is an amazing time of the year. Everything is always lit up and everyone feeling so happy and peaceful. Well, that is until you find the party. When my family gets together, it's the party of all parties especially at Christmas. Christmas has always passed in almost the same exact way every year for as long as I can remember. Christmas Eve is always spent at my Uncle Sal and Aunt Carols" house. My mom's side of the family all gets together and we have a huge blowout until everyone is either too tired or drunk to keep going. Everybody is happy, we all eat an enormous variety of fish and pasta then we all say our goodnights. .
The last few years, things have been a little different and I have yet to decide how I feel about it. When I was younger, Christmas Eve was huge in my family. Now as I get older, it becomes more and more relaxed. It all started when my mom and uncle combined their separate seafood businesses into one large one. Now that we have a much larger store we get much busier, including Christmas. By the time we are finally done putting orders together and waiting on all of our other customers, everybody is too exhausted to party. Instead of everybody dressed up on Christmas Eve partying until midnight, everybody just come over in the most comfortable piece of clothing they can find and heads home around ten o"clock.
The next morning, before anybody can open any gifts, my family and I eat breakfast together, a rare event. By this point, my grandmother has come over to help open gifts.
