Butterflies.
Butterflies are insects, their bodies have three parts. But moths fly at night and butterflies don't. Some butterlfies only live for a few days. Other live for a few months, a few kinds of butterfies live up to five years. Butterlfies that live in warm places live longer. There are between 15,000 & 20,000 kinds of butterflies. Butterflies live everywhere in the work except Anatactica. .
Life Stages:.
Butterflies go through four life stages. The first stage is the egg. Some female butterflies lay a few eggs other lay about 1,500 eggs. The 2nd stage is the larva, larvas are butterflies that hatch from the egg and are either called a caterpillars. third is the Pupas, pupas are called chrysalises. Chrysalises have shells around them. Last but not least is the 4th stage is when the chrysalises crack's into adult butterfliles. The butterflies come out wet and they hang upside down until their wings dry, then they fly away and live their life.

Appearance:.
Butterflies have small bodies with big wings, their wings have lots of colors on them. A butterflies body has three parts the head hold the antennas, the antennas are used for smeel and feel. The head also holds a proboscis and two eyes.A proboscis is a tonged shaped like a tub.
The middle part of their body is the thorax, the thorax aslo has some spriacles. Spriacles are tiny holes that butterflies use for breathing. .
The back part of the butterflie is the abdomen, it's stomach is in the abdomen & more spriacles are on the abdomen as well. .
Homes:.
Most butterflies live were theirs flowers because all butterflies depend on plants. Some butterflies live in deserts whichis kind of odd because plants don't grow in deserts when there dry. Desert Chrysalises may enter diapause for up to five years, diapause is a period of rest. Chrysalises wait until it rains in the desert and then they come out as adult butterflies. Some butterflies live in cold places were they have cold winters.
