A strong and debatable argument exists between the views and thoughts of Descartes and the views and thoughts of the Computer Guys. Descartes argument of the machine and the body as two different entities is debated between the Computer Guys concept of machine and body. Descartes states that with this dualism between machine and body there exist the emptiness of reason. If a machine were built that resembled the shape of an animal and was sited beside a real animal, man would not be able to recognize the fake from the real. However, if a machine were built resembling a human, man would easily be able to distinguish between the two based on the pure fact of reason. A machine is programmed to do certain activities but with a human body these activities are known by reason and thought. A machine acts though the organs that have been assigned not through knowledge or reason. Computer Guys trust that a machine can think and that all humans are nothing but bodies. A human has its bodily functions but also like a machine can use the mind as a tool for thought. This argument states that each side carries their own dualistic concept of mind and body. Descartes mind and body dualism is more of the mind exists as a useful tool to finding the self and as also the tool for giving only humans the characteristic of reason. With the Computer Guys they do illustrate this division but they state that not only do humans have mind but computers can think as well; the body is just an object of man with no real significant role, except for physical purposes. Descartes basically gives machine no reason resulting in the division of mind and body. While Computer Guys give reason to machine and humans exist only as "meat machines" that carry out their everyday bodily functions. In search for himself, Descartes rejected outside world and its facts, he went inside himself to find the knowledge. In contrast, the Computer Guys use outside knowledge to create their machines.
