Africa Colonialism

If asked about Africa, my first reactions are poverty, hungry people, and a poor government. Has it always been like this? Africa was rich in resources and a beautiful country. Africa of today is much different that it pre-colonial days, we view it as a land overwhelmed with poverty. Colonialism versus Independence will always be debated; I refer to it as a double-edged sword. .
The colonist saw Africa as a land full of people who didn't take advantage of their unlimited resources. The Europeans used religious and agricultural difference to create a gap between them and the Africans. Such differences colonized Africa for the ever-growing European market the depletion of African resources forced the people into a food crisis. They only hope available it the organization from within the rural class, consequently, these organizations are fighting for basic human rights. Pre-colonial Africa was full of resource and time-honor farmer that was pass down for ancestor to ancestor.
             .
I would think every person strive for independence, it would seem difficult to achieve self-independence when the country is under a colonialism regime. While the European powers dominated Africa, children there were taught to copy European ways, rather than follow their own cultures. They also had to wear European clothing instead of their own which suited the climate. The cease of colonialism in Africa was looked upon as a good thing; they were able to control their own future, gain back their cultures that were oppressed during the colonial periods. However, like any thing else independence came at a cost the African people. Obstacle the countries were and are facing is poverty, under development, economic dependency, ethnic and class conflicts, absence of democratic principles, and fragile political and economic institutions. .
African leaders are quick to blame the legacy of colonialism for their trouble; by no means am I advocating for colonialism.
