It was because of that, that they did not chose a president. They did not want another King George on their hands. And for these reasons, Congress was very limited on what they could enforce.

The creation of the Constitution was in response to the failure of the Articles of Confederation. Congress selected delegates from each of the 13 states to revise the Articles of Confederations and instead walked out with what is now our Constitution. So, now that we know a little on how our constitution came to be, I am asked "Do I think the U.S. Constitution is more or less democratic?" Well, yes and no. I will explain.
As stated in each article outlining the Constitution, the duty of each member of government is to uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of the people they are serving. But does it? The Gettysburg Address referred to the U.S. government as ".the Government of the people, by the people, for the people." But yet the original constitution, which is supposed to be the underpinning of an American Democracy is neither of the people, by the people, nor for the people. It is, in actuality, for the government itself. In a Democracy, the individuals of that democratic organization are supposed to be involved with the government affairs. If this is true, then why only, were political leaders summoned for this constitutional writing? Why were the citizens of the states not invited? The sheer reality that it was written without representation of the people was undemocratic. The Constitution had become an apparatus that took power away from the people and had put it entirely into the hands of the government. This disregarded the entire standard of democracy. Therefore, the constitution was not a Democratic manuscript. .
Democracy is supposed to be based on the input from the people and the capability of making decisions. But according to the constitution the executive, meaning the president, can act without consultation from the people on the very situations that are affecting them.
