Calculators are one of the greatest inventions since the computer. That's why I believe calculators should be allowed in the classroom, because it saves time, it makes work easier, and it is good for those long problems that most kids struggle on. Their are some negative uses of calculators like less thinking and less work, but when you look at it those things end up being positive. If you take a vote the majority of the students would prefer calculators over a pencil, paper, and the use of their brains.
First of all, a calculator saves time by allowing a student to answer a problem faster. The reason of this, is because, if a teacher assign a student about twenty to thirty minutes to complete only thirty problems the average student might complete only twenty to twenty five problems. On the other hand, with the use of calculators a student might finish those thirty problems in less than twenty minutes. That tells you why the use of calculators saves times.
Second, a calculator makes work easier by allowing us to shorten problems. What I mean by this, is that, a calculator can take a big number that our mind is not familiar with and multiply, divide, or convert it into a smaller number quicker and easier. By contrasting the mind of a student and a chip of calculator, a calculator thinks a hard problem is easy while we are thinking it is difficult. That's why I can truly say a calculator makes work easier.
Finally, calculators are good for those long problems that seem to take forever. Imagine you only had a sheet of paper left, and you had three long problems left, without the calculator, you probably will only be able to complete all three of the problems. So this is another reason why we should be able to use the calculators in the classroom.
In conclusion, you can see for yourself why calculators should be used in the classroom. Not only is calculators fun to use, but calculators saves time, it makes work easier, and they are good for those long problems.
