How did the playwrights create suspense in Dracula?

            Dracula is a brilliant play written by the playwrights Hamilton Deane and John L. The playwrights used many techniques to create suspense in Dracula, but what where these techniques, and how did the playwrights use them to create suspense? Most of the time the author would create suspense around the setting, certain unreal coincidences, and around Dracula himself.
             Suspense was created in many forms by the playwrights in the play Dracula. Most of the story is set at night time with a bright unnaturally unclouded sky. This helps to build suspense because no one can imagine seeing nothing so people's imagination fills the gap. The moon creates suspense because it helps make a surreal atmosphere which helps the reader to believe any thing can happen. The window in act two builds suspense in that someone can in fact reach Lucy despite most of the people in the story thinking she is perfectly safe. The stake and hammer make people believe something dangerous is about to happen and so it to helps to build suspense.
             There are many bizarre coincidences that really help to construct a mood of suspense in Dracula. One of the most obvious coincidence that happens in Dracula is when Renfield is about to share a deep secret, a bat always comes near and gets Reinfields attention. Then Reinfield always says sorry master or something similar to the bat and keeps his mouth shut. In act two Reinfield is about to tell Lucy why she is so ill but a bat flies across the window and Reinfield yells "The master is at hand!". Also it was a strange coincidence how dogs always seemed to bark when dogs where near.
             The character Dracula also contributes to creating suspense as well. One way Dracula creates suspense was the simple fact that he appeared very few times throughout the whole play. Dracula also said some very strange sounding things. An example of this would be when Dracula said "The cut is not deep. I. Looked".
