When good men do nothing to stop the evil in the world then the evil will triumph over what is good. This quote correlates with the two books and today's society. "The Crucible", "Their Eyes Were Watching God", and of coarse society. Here are some quotes from "The Crucible" that correspond with the saying. Proctor says, "what you are doing is evil." Proctor thinks about how he will correct this. Finally he thinks about telling the truth to fix everything. The book "the crucible and the book "Their Eyes Were Watching God" were very much similar to the above phrase. "Their eyes were watching god relates to the phrase not really through a man, but through a women, Janie. Three things that Janie did that related to the phrase are not settling for a man that would boss her around, yelling at Tea Cake when he stole the money, and finally sticking up for her-self to find true love. All of today's society correlates to the above saying. Some for instances are, fighting the war with Iraq to preserve the right way of life, trying to stop the nuclear testing in Korea, trying to stop the starvation in third world countries. All of these relate to one another in one way or another and the all correspond to the phrase " The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.".
In the book "The Crucible" Proctor tries to explain that what the people are convicting him of is evil. He is trying to stand up to this to triumph and show them what they are doing is wrong. Procter thinks long and hard while he has time to himself on how to correct the matter at hand. It takes a true hero to solve the problem. Finally proctor decides he will tell the truth to help everyone, but his wife is also trying to save him so she lies. By lying they, they think proctor has not told them the truth so he loses his life.
