The Song of Roland

There are differences and similarities that Oliver and Roland share. In some situations there personalities clash and in others they flow together for the good of both of them. They both follow the code of chivalry, but they both follow it to a different degree. There thoughts on personal honor are on the same level, but Roland takes it to far. .
Roland's way of life is set by the code of chivalry, he lives by it and he breathes it. He gets himself in situations where he seems to be either narrow-minded, proud, or both. One such example would be when Oliver thinks it would be best to call Charles for help in a battle they could possibly lose. Roland thinks they have the situation under control, when they clearly do not. Roland is also very rash, he is more of a do first think later kind of guy. One example is after he tells Oliver to not sound the horn, he goes into battle and quickly finds out they will lose without help. So, he turns to Oliver and tells him they as much help as Charles will give them. Oliver on the other hand is not to proud to call for help when help is needed, and in this battle much help was needed. He still lives by the code of chivalry, but he only takes the honor and pride thing to a certain extent. I guess you can say they are similar in how they both go by the code and believe in honor. But the difference is to what extent they follow the code, and how much emphasis they put on honor.
Roland and Oliver share some similarities and some differences. In battle there thoughts and codes of conduct would butt heads, but they also would sometimes flow with each other. Their beliefs and their emphasis on honor were quite different at times. These two different people play off each other to make a good team. .
