A hero to me is someone who is willing to put everything aside in order to help others no matter how important it may be. My hero isn't your everyday hero, he is even better. He is my grandfather, Ted. He"ll do anything for his 6 grandchildren (including myself). As if his world revolved around us. The thing that makes him a true her to me though, is the fact that he won't wait on us hand and foot, but he helps us to be more independent for when he's not around.
Not only does he do everything for his family, but he saved a few lives back before I was born. In the "Oneida Mine Disaster" some men were trapped in a mine and had no way of getting out, but my grandfather designed the drill bit that would later save their lives. He didn't have to do that, he could have just walked away saying "there was nothing I could do", but he didn't, he made a difference. If not for him those men would have died in that mine, so I"m sure he's not just my hero, but the hero of the men who's lives he saved that day.
My grandfather is and always has been very smart. He can make anything out of anything. One time, on a rainy day, he made an authentic missal out of stove pipes for my younger cousins and he also built us a tree house. The best part about it is none of the things that he does or makes for us cost a thing. He doesn't try to buy our love, because he doesn't need to. .
Another thing that I admire about him is that he trusts us despite the fact that we"re young and make mistakes. He has a golf cart that he got for a present a couple of years ago, and he lets us drive it around even though he probably shouldn't, but the point is, he trusts us until we give him a reason not to, unlike most people who will play it safe and keep their belongings to themselves. He is the most selfless person I've ever met in my life. If I need help while he's doing something, he"ll stop everything he's doing and help me with it.
