There are several theories that are used to explain why certain criminals commit crimes. These theories cover a range of scientific studies that still continue to change today. By using these theories and information gathered, an explanation of the crimes committed by Ted Kaczynski will be developed. .
Between the years of 1978 and 1995 Kaczynski left a number of packages containing explosive material for people to find. He also mailed several packages all over the U.S. to university professors and people involved with computers and technology. Even while still in high school it appeared that Kaczynski had an interest in explosives, as he used a science class to build his first pipe bomb. .

Classical School - In Kaczynski's manifesto he noted some things that disturbed him about society such as "overcrowding, dissociation from nature, social conformity, rapid pace of technological change, consumerism corporate domination" (Unabomber: Ted Kaczynski, 2). Perhaps Kaczynski believed if he rid the world of these people involved in technology things might return to normal for him.
Biological School - Over the years scientists have developed tests and theories about a person's body shape, sizes of bones and limbs, even lumps on the head. It seems like most of these tests were inconclusive and not consistent between every case. There is not much information on Kaczynski's physical characteristics, but from photos taken after his arrest Kaczynski looks disheveled and eccentric - attributes that usually cause people to think one might be involved in suspicious activity.
Psychobiological Theory - Kaczynski's troubles with sexuality suggest perhaps there was some kind of imbalance of chemistry. Reports indicate that his parents were "normal". As far as physical trauma, Kaczynski was hospitalized as a baby due to some kind of allergic reaction, but it is unclear on what the cause was.
