Most recognized country artists play the guitar and even if they don't they have someone else in their band playing it. Country music has more of a lyric melody than music; this is why they use the acoustic guitar, not real loud because they want the singer to have the majority of the song as opposed to the instruments. However, I have seen more and more country artists playing the electric because they can now get a sound of an acoustic through the different toning on the guitar amps. I think this holds a more pure sound and makes the song a bit more up beat. For example Garth Brooks, tends to switch his guitars from acoustic to electric to change his beats in songs. Without the electric he would have all these slow sounding country songs, which he changed for up beat sounds. Country music has a pretty low method of playing, considering the artist. Country musicians tend to use a lot of repetition of sound and methods tend to be the same, picking one verse and strumming another, seems to be the most common of country artists. The views on country music will always be different with different artists playing their own songs on different guitars.
One of the latest trends in music that has taken many people by surprise by how many fans they have pulled in is punk/ska music. This type of music consists of fast guitar playing, with kind of a pop music rhythm to it. I think punk is not even music, when put in a category with methods of the guitar. I hate punk for a lot of reasons but the main reason is because of the horrid guitar playing that punk rockers display. I see this topic differently than most because I play the instrument and I know these guys make music by playing the same chords over and over again and to me that gets real old quickly. Just listen to a couple songs and tell me I"m wrong, if I was rebel and my hair was in a mohawk, I probably could have written this music when I was twelve years old.
