Influence of TV

Mark Leyner's making of "Tooth Imprints on a Corn Dog" shows how he works under time pressure. Leyner has to write a poem for "Der Gummiknuppel" within 35 hours. His muse is the TV channel CNN. Many of his verses are picked off the news delivered by the speakers.
Surely not only Mark Leyner is influenced by TV, but also everyone. That's why I choose this subject. TV's influence is a problem, which increased the last years rapidly. TV offers more and more channels for every taste. The result is that people spend much more time in front of the TV than ever before. This causes a stop in communication between people. There isn't any time to join each other and because of that the social life decays.
The influence is so huge that it changes the personality. Especially children get immense problems in school. The writing turns worse because they don't read books anymore. The information they get on TV is easier to understand than it's given in books. Because of that the PISA-studies were so bad in Germany. No country in Europe watches more TV than the Germans do. Looking forward the jobs where good grammatical skills are needed can't be reached by those TV-junkie-children.
Because children look more and more TV they get also eye problems. Statistics show that the number of wearers of glasses rose the last two years about 15 percent.
Another problem caused by TV is the shortage of movement. Most people used to go swimming or play soccer. Now they lie on their sofas and watch these sport activities. They become fat and unattractive. This causes dissatisfaction with their life. .
Surely TV has also advantages. News can get faster around the world and people everywhere on earth know them within minutes. They can react immediately on it and find solutions. Likewise for example the humans from Europe can see how the humans in Asia live. Documentaries tell them something about their culture, their eating preferences and their working.
