The Bible: Fact or Fiction

Evolutionists argue that the Christian belief of "creation" merely implies the existence of a creator (God) and fails to deal with the issues of the origin of life and the creation of the planet (Miller 55). The creationist views are not backed with science, but instead, faith. "The creationists have failed to deal with the enormous amount of evidence which support the general notion of evolution and failed to prove anything which may even resemble an alternative theory of natural history" (55). Science work is based upon natural laws that cannot be changed, but creationists" theories break those natural laws with aide of a supernatural being.
The origin of the earth is widely debated between those who support evolution and creation. The creationists believe that God, creator of everything, took a dark formless void, and created the earth from it. Along with the earth as humans know it, God is said to also have made light, and separated it from the dark to make day and night. The story of the earth's creation is told in Genesis, the first part of the Holy Bible. Creation of earth, and everything else seen and known, was brought about in the seven 24 hour periods of creation. This supernatural act leaves no room for things such as the big bang theory proposed by many scientists. According to the Christians, it is copasetic to say that something (God), which no one can see, hear, or touch, "snapped his fingers" and the earth was instantly created.
The basis of evolution is that life began on earth after it cooled down following the creation of the universe. When the conditions were right for life to form on earth, simple life forms took shape, eventually becoming more complex and evolving into different species (Palmer 1). Some evolutionist ideas differ slightly, as do religious views, but they still use scientific methods to determine their conclusions.
Evolutionists have a completely different presumptions about the origin of the earth.
