             Psychology is the study of the human mind and human behavior. There are many different types of jobs in psychology. All psychologists teach, counsel, conduct, research, or administer programs to understand and help people. Psychologists deal with mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals. The field of psychology includes history, duties and functions, educational requirements, salary and benefits, advancements, and present/future availability of the job.
             Psychology translates as "the science of the soul." There are many different fields in psychology. Clinical psychologist is the most popular. Others consist of; Developmental psychologists, social psychologists, counseling psychologists, school psychologists, and experimental psychologists. Psychology was founded back in the 1830's. Wilhelm Wundt, who studied experimental psychology, founded it. He taught at the University of Leipzig, teaching about the human's body and soul. Many other famous psychologists followed in his steps. A Russian psychologist, Dr. Ivan Pavlov discovered the key aspect of behaviorist theory. He studied the process of digestion and experimented on dogs to find the answer. Another very famous psychologist is Dr. Sigmund Freud. He studied the meaning of behavior, dreams, and the unconscious (Crosgrove 267). These psychologists helped us learn, research, and discover more about the human mind and behavior in today's world.
             There are many duties and functions involved in being a psychologist. Clinical psychologists work with people's mental and emotional disorders. They examine group and individual behavior by testing, experimenting, and studying the history of the individual. A psychologist must provide therapy and clinical evaluations. Also maintain records, provide research database, engage in research activities, and respond to emergency situations (BLS internet). Clinical psychologists usually sit with the individual or group and interview them.
