It was immediatly added to top 40 radio playlists across the country, and the video was put into heavy rotation on MTV. Her album came out in December, and went double platinum in a month, spending six weeks on the top of the charts at number one.
             Her and her management continued to play with the "naughty and nice" idea. On paper, she came across as a nice, sweet, wholesome girl with christian values. But, however, things were about to come to a grinding halt. In April, 1999, she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone, wearing sexy lingerie while laying on a bed. She looked incredibly young; in the photo, she chatted on the phone with a friend like any other fifteen year old girl would do, with a tellytubbie clutched to her chest. Yet, in the interview, she denyed that she was in any serious relationship, denyed the fact that she knew what seh was doing, denyed losing her virginity, and denyed using alcohol and drugs. She looked like a hot twenty-two year old, but everything she said reminded America that she was innocent. And, immediatly after releasing the controversial video that was "Baby.one more time", she released a song entitled "Sometimes", a cutesy ballad in a video that had her day-dreaming about going on romantic dates with boys on a beach. She also appeared fully clothed! This song did as well, or better than Baby, and became the anthem of summer 1999.
             After releasing her second single, the public eye realized that this was no one hit wonder. She became a bonified star. By the end of the summer, her album had sold seven million units, more than any other CD by a teenage female.

             Almost a year after Britney released her first LP, she started working hard on her second, and it is here where "Britney Spears INC." Is put into motion. Her management team suddenly realized that she was an incredibly hot commodity. By the end of the year, "Baby one more time" had sold over eleven million copies and was still in the top ten.
