In the meantime, she went on Starsearch, but did not win, which was yet ANOTHER setback. Years later, however, things changed. She was called in late 1992 by the casting director of the Mickey Mouse Club and was told they were casting again and wanted her on the show. Her and her mother immediatly flew down to Orlando and Britney joined the cast along with future rival Christina Aguilera and future boyfriend Justin Timberlake. She was one of the standouts of the show but, in the end, it was canceled and she was devestated. She went back, once again, to Kentwood with little hope in her career. She was, however, destined for the stage and would refuse to give up. Her intense courage and determination benefited her later.
"She's so lucky, She's a star".
By the time the Mickey Mouse Club was canceled, she was twelve. Three years later, she would hit it rich. She was discovered by another talent agency at a local show and would later audition for a record contract with Jive records. In a matter of months, she landed the contract, as did Jessica Simpson the week after and Christina Aguilera the week after that, and had an album in the works. She would decididly be marketed as a a squeaky clean role model for the up-and-coming MTV generation. Record labels were quickly snapping up all the young talent they could find, because the baby boomers were having kids, which would be a huge audience to cater to. Although Britney was excited about the recording contract, she was not so sure about the squeaky clean image. Although she would be innocent, she would be sexy as well. Her first music video, Baby One More Time, had an entirely different concept than what was actually put on screen. She was originally slated to act as a power-ranger type hero in an insanely cheesy video. She came up with the idea of the catholic school girl, and the rest was history. The single was released, and she quickly gained notoriety.
