Don't Worry, Be Happy

When I look in the mirror every morning I worry of what people will think of me based on the way I"m dressed. I go through two or three sets of clothes in hope for the perfect match. If I could only take a step back and realize that what I wear has no effect on me as a person, I would find that there are better things in life than just objects and appearances. We should not focus on how people appear; we should appreciate the person for who they are.
We have certain needs in life that are required to sustain our existence. We have hunger so we eat, we have thirst so we drink, and we are cold so we find heat, "Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on." (Matthew 6:25). If we worry about when or what our next meal is, the worry only makes us want the meal more. God provides soil, sun, and water for the lilies in the field, so why should we worry about what God will provide? The necessities of life will come to us through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. "Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" (Matthew 6:25). There is more to existence then simply sustaining the minimum necessities of life, we must trust that God will supply.
Sometimes worrying makes people change their actions and reactions. We make decisions that are influenced by our worries. A very common worry among mothers is that the stove or oven has been left on while nobody is home. This causes the mother to race home only to discover that the stove was not turned on and that the rushed trip home was all in vane. My mother has done this more than once. Worrying is a natural safeguard for humans to do because we are afraid of what might happen while we are gone. Worrying about something doesn't have a resulting effect that will change how things are. Studies are proven to show that when taking an exam it is best to stick with ones intuition and not to second guess answers.
